That's where the tools we're about to mention come in. When I start a station based on a mislabeled song, the following tracks are appropriate and in-theme, but after the song's over, I still have to update the song myself. Similarly, while I've found that iTunes Match and Google Music often do a great job of figuring out what that mislabeled track is, it doesn't update its metadata in my music library. Sadly, if you like any older, obscure, or remixed tracks, especially if you're into electronica or independent music, you're going to run into trouble finding what you want. I've had varying levels of success with each approach. You could also just sync your library with iTunes and let iTunes Match sort it out, or with Google Play Music and let Google figure out what "Track01.mp3" really is. There's a case to be made that it's easier to just give up on your music library entirely and switch to a service like Spotify, which lets you hear whatever you want whenever you want it. Why Not Just Go with Spotify, or Upload to Google Music or iTunes? In this post, we'll discuss some of the best. You can still do it all manually, but if you aren't super nitpicky about your library, there are some great apps that'll sort your music automatically. You'd have to meticulously dig up artist, album, and track information for each song, type it all in, and download album art for everything. There was a time when tagging and organizing your music was something that you set aside hours to do. ![]() Luckily, there are some great free tools to clean it up and make sure that never happens again. It can be easier to look up those songs on Spotify than enjoy the high-quality audio files you own. ![]() ![]() It's full of hard-to-find tracks, ripped CDs, and rare downloads.

![]() Where does your interest in furniture design come from? I got a good laugh though.Īside from that, I see you've also designed a lego brick coffee table. It was really a social experiment/test of humanity and they all failed. I grabbed the microphone & started yelling "WHO WANTS THE DAMN PIZZA?!" and everybody started jumping up & down screaming "ME!! ME!! PICK ME!!!".So I violently launched the pizza as high into the air as I could and everybody jumped to catch it on the way down & began fighting over bits and pieces of it & devouring that disgustingly cold slice of cheese pizza like a cluster of cavemen. One time I took the most disgusting piece of cold pizza from backstage and brought it out onto the stage during the show. What's the craziest thing you've seen while performing on stage? Looks like you've DJ'ed some pretty big live shows too. I actually just released a track called "The Start". Now I'm releasing my own solo self-produced tracks, just because I want the world to hear what goes through my head when it's not within the bounds of somebody else's creative vision. The track's I did with KYLE (who is one of my best friends/big bro) ended up selling over 7,000,000 copies before I even turned 21. But, I've produced for Super Duper Kyle, Kehlani, and Buddy. I don't have a huge catalogue, but that's because I just make music with my friends & people who inspire me, and the music itself has always just been the organic fruits of those authentic connections. ![]() Who are some other artists you've done music production for? Interestingly enough, the same formula applies to getting the best wave of the day. So when I found out Travis had added a verse and that they were using it as a single I was geeked! Yeah. But after that night I didn't hear the song again or hear anything about it releasing for over a year. The next day he told me to pull up to the studio, and when I showed up he instantly played me what had become "Durag Activity '' (without Travis Scott's verse). One random day later on in the year, he replied to my instagram story where I was playing a beat that I had made, and said "hard".so I texted the beat to him. I sent him some stuff in June 2019 and nothing ever came back, but we still built a good relationship and would link up to go ride gokarts in burbank for fun back during pre-pandemic life. He probably had about 4,000 followers at the time (now he has like 300k) so he saw my message and hit me back. So, I found Baby Keem's music back early in 2019, and I instantly felt this young rager energy about his approach to the beats he was choosing, and I just wanted to contribute.so I just slid in his DMs and told him I loved his shit/wanted to send him some beats. ![]() ![]() Well, I'm a fan of rap music (obviously) and always had trouble reaching out to bigger artists to hear my music. You just produced a new song for Baby Keem and Travis Scott called "durag activity" can you tell us how you got that gig? then my mom married a man in the military and I moved to North Carolina, and didn't return to CA permanently until I was 14 (I'm 24 now). For some reason, pushing the right analog stick up on the ‘simple’ preset moves the camera right instead of up. There is another preset for the controls that are labelled ‘simple’, however, these controls appear to be broken. As for the default controls (specifically on a controller), they might seem awkward at first as all movement is done using both analogue sticks, however, as you continue to play the game you’ll adjust fairly quickly. There are some minor issues with performance on the PC version that we will get to later, but the gameplay is as good now as it was back then. ![]() No matter how you phrase it, you are bound to come off as a little bit crazy.ĭespite being released fourteen years ago, everything about Katamari Damacy largely holds up well today. Good luck trying to tell your parents about how you played a game where you rolled up birthday cakes, old women on mobility scooters and several cyclists to form a star. By the end of the first few levels, your Katamari is able to hold things like cats and dogs.ĭescribing this game to someone without having them watch gameplay will make you sound mental, but that’s part of the game’s charm. As it continues to grow, you are able to pick up bigger objects like LEGO blocks and coins. You start by rolling up small household objects like matches and erasers, and the more objects you roll up, the bigger your Katamari grows. Released back in 2004 on the PlayStation 2, the premise of the game has you rolling up objects with an object called a Katamari (think of it as a really sticky ball) in order to rebuild stars and constellations. I know it took years for the GC version to emulate remotely decently because of how complex it was.Katamari Damacy is by far one of the strangest games I’ve ever played. Some of this is speculation, but I have a hard time imagining other explanations.Īs for the "struggling to run a 20-year old game" part more specifically, I don't actually know whether porting the GC version directly - not that they would ever consider it, the PS2 port added some extra content that I assume would be a nightmare to backport, and I've heard rumors they've lost the original files to the GC version anyway - would work all that well, given that apparently the original used a lot of GC-specific tricks to get things looking and running the way they did. ![]() Because the alternative would require a ton more dev work, and as they've shown this isn't a high-effort rerelease. And if you do that, then I don't think it's surprising to anyone that the Switch version would run worse and might need to have some bits taken back out (the screen transitions, etc) to try to save a frame here or there. Somehow we're in 2023 and the version of Tales of Symphonia that looks and runs the best is still the 20-year-old Gamecube version.Ĭlick to expand.Well, due to how the ports are set up, at best it's the Switch trying to run a PS3 game and not just a GC/PS2 game, and at worst they just did the PS3 -> PS4/Switch port with a shared engine (which often adds a lot of overhead costs) and are trying to run the same code on both a PS4 and a Switch. The PS4 version has fewer problems but some are still present (like the badly upscaled textures, including some with visible artifacting).īasically they put in the absolute minimum amount of effort (if even that) into this release, because I'm guessing they assume people will just buy it anyway :/ The "remaster" is a port of the PS3 version (I think? Unless it's a port of the PC version which is already a port of the PS3 version) which is a port of the PS2 version which is a port of the GC version, and every step has added new bugs and issues, and this one seems to be no exception, with the Switch version getting the worst of it. While I hope they fix some of them, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you The last round of ports for it came out in a pretty shoddy state and the PC version only ended up half-decent after an unaffiliated modder spent months fixing issues. Worn by everyone from David Beckham and Brad Pitt to countless boyband members and that guy from Dawson’s Creek, it was the style for would-be heartthrobs and a generation of men getting more and more comfortable with the idea of grooming. In the nineties, it was all about the curtain hairstyle, aka an eboy haircut. The fifties had a neat short, back and sides, the seventies had long hair and sideburns, the eighties had mullets. Curtain cuts were similar for a more preppy look, with medium cut hair pushed to the side and often dyed blonde.Every decade has a signature haircut. For this style, hair was cut into bob and pushed back with fringe falling over the face. One of the most iconic medium length cuts for men was The Heartthrob, named after stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt who often sported the look. Shaped afros from the 1960s-70s were given a modern spin and low fades with 360 waves were popular. Common short hairstyles included Caesar cuts (as sported by Jay-Z throughout the decade), spiked hair with or without frosted tips (popularized by Backstreet Boys and NSYNC), flat tops (Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), and bowl cuts.Ĭornrows were common in both straight back and middle part styles, often sported by NBA players like Allen Iverson. While the cut itself was unique, the boxy layers, face framing, and curled in ends were all touchstones that were imitated often throughout the decade.īrandy was also a ‘90s hair icon, popularizing micro braids in a variety of looks from casual styles on Moesha to elegant updos on the red carpet. You can’t talk about ‘90s hair without talking about The Rachel, Jennifer Anniston’s iconic hairstyle from Friends. More relaxed ‘90s hairstyles featured middle parts, straight hair with curled ends, and messy buns. Bouncy curls, feathered bangs, and crimped waves were all options when going for volume looks. 1990s hairstyles for womenīig hair was still on trend from the 1980s, but ‘90s styles were less about teased volume and more about natural frizz. The wave of new technology, rise of consumerism, and strong sense of multiculturalism brought a variety of styles, like grunge, hip hop, and punk into the mainstream and created more room for individuality and experimentation with hair. ![]() Whether it was oversized accessories or volume, there was no such thing as “too much” when it came to ‘90s hairstyles. She added that it’s the same mindset that has pushed her throughout her career to seek out roles with increased responsibilities. “I work really hard to remember that I’m here for a reason and that I have something to offer,” she said. Root said balance is going to be different for everyone. “It’s like your mind never takes a break.” “As women and leaders, we’re still moms and spouses,” she said. ![]() Williams said one action she takes to maintain balance is being aware of setting down her phone after hours. “What you can offer is still really great and worth offering.” Sawarynski stressed the importance of grace for oneself, especially since it’s impossible to be “all the things for all the people, all the time.” The challenge of work-life balance was another common theme. “What really inspired me was that people believed in me.” “My supervisors believed in me and encouraged me to do other things…to get another leadership position, get another professional certification, get another degree,” she said. “You always knew he had your best interests at heart.ĭeWitte shared that she didn’t have a single mentor who inspired her rather, she drew inspiration from the environment she previously worked in - the office of the Oakland University Provost. “As a brand-new faculty member, I watched him have difficult conversations with people but always in a very caring way,” she said. The mentor was the chair of her department, and described him as “a hardcore scientist who’s actually good with people.” Taylor said one of her mentors led by example when she was a faculty member at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. (Last week, Oakland University President Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, M.D., also talked about the importance of mentorship to the OUWB community.)
